Kabi Jagadram Roy Government General Degree College (Lat: 23.57736°N; Long: 87.10085°E), a sole public-funded co-education institution, was set up in 2015 by the Department of Higher Education, Government of West Bengal. The college campus spreads over 5.42 acres of land and is located beside the NH-14 (NH-60, old numbering) at Shyamapur village in the Gopalpur Mouza of Mejia block in the district of Bankura, West Bengal.
The college was a gift of the enthusiasm and dedication of the local people of the area who had truly understood the necessity of higher education in such rural areas of Bengal. From its very inception, its primary aim has been to provide quality education to the local needy and meritorious students of the neighbouring areas.
The college offers B.A., B.Sc., and B.Com. (Honours/Major and Programme) undergraduate (UG) courses in 09 disciplines. In spite of several constraints, the institution constantly endeavours to carry forward the legacy of good and sincere education for its students, many of whom basically belong to the socio-economically disadvantaged groups of the society. The college gives equal importance to every student irrespective of their sex, caste, merit and means.
